The Skoda UK Retailer of the Year Awards were held on February 9^th in Prague. The lavish ceremony took place at Palace Zofin in the Czech capital and was hosted by glamorous BBC news presenter Kate Silverton. 

The awards were a chance for Skoda to celebrate the achievements of the entire network in the last 12 months and to also recognise the exceptional efforts of a few Skoda retailers. Capitol Skoda in Newport was among those recognised when they were crowned with the Fleet Sales retailer of the year award. They were hailed for their work with national fleet buyers and their continued commitment to local companies and private individuals.    

Craig Walters, Head of Business at Capitol Skoda was on hand to accept the award on the night from Kate Silverton and was understandably delighted with the accolade ““This award shows how Skoda has become a main stream brand in the minds of many car buyers. Our team in Newport has worked hard to support local business throughout South Wales, winning this prestigious accolade recognises the teams hard work and our dedicated approach to our customers”

“It’s a real pleasure to have an evening where we can recognise the network, the category winners and the overall winners,” said Škoda UK Director Robert Hazelwood. “It gives our management team the chance to thank everyone for their performances in 2010.”

Highlights of the evening included Škoda UK Motorsport’s Andreas Mikkelsen and Ola Fløene appearing in person, posing for pictures with retailers alongside Kate Silverton. Just as popular were the actors from the Fabia vRS ‘Made of meaner stuff’ advert, complete with live snake. Dressed in their costumes, the ‘mean’ crew made lots of noise as they stormed the stage and chased a ‘kind’ baker from our previous Fabia TV advert out the hall. It was also announced that the advert has been nominated in two categories at the prestigious British Television Advertising Awards: Best Car Advert and Best Advert.
