Audi makes 2011 a record-breaking year
On 1 November Audi broke its all-time record for annual sales in the UK, passing the mark previously set in 2008 of 101,522.
This fantastic figure illustrates just what a superb year it’s been for Audi in the UK. This is not only a record in terms of volume, but also represents a record market share for the brand of six per cent, compared to 5.2 per cent in 2010.
Audi’s performance in the UK for the ten months to the end of October is all the more impressive when set against the backdrop of a difficult UK car market and economic challenges. The brand has achieved growth of 17 per cent in retail sales this year, while the UK car market has contracted by 12 per cent, compared to 2010. We have also outperformed the fleet market, with Audi fleet sales growing 10.5 per cent against four per cent growth in the market overall.
What’s more, Audi has outperformed its main rivals in the premium sector in terms of sales in 2011 October year-to-date. This is the first year ever that Audi has been ahead of BMW after September, and the brand is currently 29,000 units ahead of Mercedes.
Most importantly, our accomplishments so far this year are testament to the incredible job done by everyone involved the Brand – you have all played your part in our success so far, and we are confident that, with your continued support, we can go on to achieve our full year ambition.
