Skoda Superb HatchAt their annual awards ceremony, Fleet News has awarded the Škoda Superb the top accolade in its Best Upper Medium car category. The fleet buyer’s publication also gave a highly commended award to the Škoda Yeti in the Best Crossover category.

The judges at Fleet News commented that: “The Superb has much to offer with its class-leading space, luxury features and elegant styling, while the Yeti has given Škoda the power to grab the attention of fleet operators. It was the turn of the Octavia to shine at the Parker’s New Car Awards 2011 where the Škoda Octavia S 1.2 TSI was awarded the title of Best Family Car. The Parker’s New Car Awards are a barometer for cash savvy buyers, who are looking for vehicles that make their money go further. The awards are given to those cars that perform best when applied to the Parker’s ‘cost of motoring’ tool, which highlights all costs associated with the purchase and ownership of a new or used car, including servicing, tax, fuel consumption and depreciation.

Parker’s editor Kieren Puffett was positively glowing in his tribute to the Octavia S 1.2 TSI at the New Car Awards 2011: “In one of the most competitive sectors in the car market, the Octavia underlines just what tremendous value it provides to car buyers. Its sheer roominess, practicality and decent levels of standard kit make it an immediate hit with families. Throw in top build quality, great reliability and the frugal nature of the 1.2-litre petrol engine, which also delivers great performance, and it is a compelling buy.”

Skoda YetiŠkoda are still celebrating from a night to remember at the Auto Express New Car Awards, after the brand took home an unprecedented five awards.

Škoda won Best Crossover Car for Yeti, Best Family Car for Superb and Best Estate Car for Superb Estate. Most impressively, the Yeti drove off with the overall title of Car of the Year 2010. The brand also picked up the Driver Power Award for reliability and outstanding customer service.

The Auto Express judges commented on the Yeti, saying that: “In a year that has seen the arrival of some truly special cars, the Škoda is a worthy winner of our overall crown.” The judges went on to discuss the outstanding engine line ups, high levels of specification, reliability and value for money offered by the Yeti and all other Skoda model winners on the night.

Škoda UK Director Robert Hazelwood said: “This is a fantastic honour! We’re delighted that Auto Express thinks as highly of the Yeti as we do. It’s a fantastic car and is selling well, ahead of even our optimistic forecasts. It provides, as Auto Express said, stylish looks and great value with a huge helping of fun.”

“The awards for Škoda Superb Hatch and Estate, and the Driver Power award are also fantastic. Driver Power is especially rewarding, as it recognises the work that our retailers do to provide outstanding customer service to Škoda owners across the UK.

“Škoda is having a great year, with record sales and the largest order bank in our history. We believe the reasons for that are simple and are reflected in what Auto Express recognised with these awards – great products built with excellent engineering and a retailer network that takes outstanding care of our customers.”

Skoda has pulling power at Towcar Awards 2010

Skoda Superb EstateThis is the latest series of awards from the motoring press to be bestowed upon Skoda. The brand has received two accolades at the prestigious Practical Caravan Towcar Awards 2010. The Octavia Estate 1.6 TDI CR GreenLine was given the Green Award and the Superb Estate 2.0 TDI CR 170 SE was named best car in the 1575-1724kg class.

Skoda has received a number of awards in the last few years from the Towcar Awards and these latest accolades follow the Superb Hatch, which won the top award in its class at last years awards. In addition to the Towcar awards, Skoda has also been recognised this year in the Which? awards and the Auto Express Driver Power survey.

Practical Caravan claims its awards, backed by What Car? and The Camping and Caravanning Club, are “the UK’s most vigorous and thorough towcar assessment programme”. All cars are put through a series of stringent tests by a panel of six judges who look at the cars ability to tow, the cost to buy and own the car, drive quality when not towing and practicality.

This years panel of judges were particularly impressed by the Superb Estate and its value for money and fuel economy. Practical caravan went on to say: “The estate is simply huge. There are 633 litres with the seats upright and a huge 1865 litres if they are folded forward. Rear-seat space is exceptional for a family estate, with enough head- and legroom to rival some luxury cars. Size isn’t everything, however, and fortunately the Superb tows, well, superbly… The Škoda’s stability was even more impressive than its acceleration.”

The Octavia Estate GreenLine was, according to Practical Caravan: “One of the best [‘green’ cars] we’ve tested.” The judges praised the GreenLine’s towing ability, price tag and fuel economy: “Official economy figures are exceptionally good for a car as large and roomy as this one. The Octavia’s 64.2mpg makes it one of the most fuel-efficient cars on test, and carbon dioxide emissions of 114g/km will keep road tax bills low, too.”

Which awards to hours to SkodaŠkoda has received the top accolade at the annual Which? It offers a great range of reasonably-priced, well-built cars.” Peter then added “The winner of this award is a car brand much praised by its customers, with high scores on dealer satisfaction for both sales and servicing. Owner satisfaction is also high, with most Which? members rating it as very good. The company also achieved a number of best buys for the various models we tested, making Škoda an obvious choice for Best Car Manufacturer 2010.

Richard Headland is the Editor of Which? Car and he added “’People might know Škoda as a purveyor of value, but what they might not know is that this brand should be equally recognised for its quality of product, its reliability and its excellent retailer network.”

Receiving the award for Škoda was their UK Director, Robert Hazelwood, who said “We’re really pleased to win this award. It shows just how highly Which? rates our products and service.  We’re very proud of the excellent engineering and great value in every one of our cars, and pleased that Which? has recognised the outstanding personal service our retailers give their customers.”

Skoda logoSkoda has been named the best overall manufacturer for the second year running at the Auto Express Driver Power awards. The Best Family Car award was also scooped by the Octavia, which also placed third in the overall Best Car category.

The overall consensus from the survey was incredibly positive towards the Skoda brand, with the Octavia standing out as a real favourite because of its quality, fine driving dynamics, value fro money and reliability.

Škoda UK Brand Director, Robert Hazelwood, said: “Being awarded the Best Manufacturer in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey again is great news for Škoda and its dedicated UK retailers. Fabia vRS takes centre stage at Geneva Motors Show

The newly face lifted Fabia range was debuted at the Skoda stand at the Geneva Motor Show this month, with the spotlight firmly fixed on the new Fabia vRS.

New Fabia vRS unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

The new Fabia vRS is equipped with a lively 1.4-litre twin charger engine that generates 180bhp. Skoda has drawn inspiration from its Fabia WRC car to create the new Fabia vRS’s aggressive body kit.

The Fabia vRS that was displayed at the show was inextricably linked to its rally counterpart, being painted in the same rally green, although the show vRS (pictured) was finished in a distinctive and contrasting black roof. When the new Fabia v RS is released later this year, you will even be able to specify different colour alloys if you so wish. However, we feel that even in standard colour, the five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels frame the vRS’s muscular appearance.

This latest incarnation of the v RS has been teamed with a standard seven-speed DSG gearbox, which comes complete with paddle gear shifters, mounted behind the steering wheel. The DSG gearbox ensures for a seamless gear change, which has assisted its low 0-60mph time of just 7.3 seconds. The DSG gearbox has also been able to achieve the remarkable combined fuel economy of 44.1mpg.

Surprisingly, the new Fabia v RS will also be available in an estate version. The estate enjoys all of the sporty features of its standard counterpart, with the added luxury of far more practical space too.

The new Fabia Vrs will be available later on this year at Capitol Skoda. For more information please contact Capitol Skoda now.
